News

As of 2022-06-24:In a ruling that was very similar to the leaked court opinion that came out in May, the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, saying there is no constitutional right to abortion. As such, it's now up to state governments to regulate abortion how they choose – some states have already put in place abortion bans that automatically went into effect when the Supreme Court ruling was announced. Other states, like California, have made it clear that abortion is still legal in their state.

The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v Wade. We must codify the right to abortion! Do everything in your power to support and pass the Women's Health Protection Act, H. R. 3755. I am a constituent.

Resistbot will confirm and send your message to your legislators in the House and Senate, as well as President Biden.

TEXT CALL TO 50409

SAY THIS:

"Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm from [YOUR CITY]. The Senate should not confirm a Supreme Court justice before Inauguration Day. My senator should do everything in their power, including blocking unanimous consent, filibustering, and all other procedural tools, to make that happen. Thank you."

Do not hang up until you've been connected to your other senator, then Sen. Schumer's office.

Post a Letter in Your Local Newspaper

Sounds crazy, but elected officials really hate getting slammed by their constituents in the local papers! Mostly it's because boomers still read newspapers and legislators care what boomers think because they reliably vote.Submit a "letter to the editor," which could get posted in your local paper. It will definitely get seen by your legislator.

TEXT EDITOR TO 50409

USE THE BOLDED TEXT BELOW AS INSPIRATION:
Keep in mind this is written for a state in which abortion will not be legal if Roe v. Wade is overturned. You will want to change the text if you're in a state like California where abortion will still be legal. But we encourage you to send a letter even in that case, and tell legislators to make abortion access a priority!

The Supreme Court has struck down Roe v. Wade, making abortion difficult or impossible in our state. Women will still end unwanted pregnancies, but now they may be doing it without professional medical care. This is an unconscionable infringement women's liberty, and I believe our state legislators should enact a law that will ensure abortion access in our state.
